Last updated on April 11, 2026
This page and "Collectors, Bibliographers, and Catalogues" are the two most frequently-updated pages.
My priorities: I prioritize three types of bibliographic information: (1) studies listed in syllabi of courses on the history of the book and of reading; (2) studies about book collecting, book collectors, collection histories, and the circulation of books and information management; and (3) studies that broadly contribute to the understanding of the linguistic, inscriptional, and literary environment of Chosŏn Korea.
What I exclude: The bibliographies do not include any translations of primary sources. The bibliographies do include translations of academic books and essays.
Acknowledgements: Azalea Lee (EALC, Harvard University), Jeonghun Choi (HEAL, Harvard University), and Junyoung Baik (RSEA, Harvard University) provided assistance. I thank Professor He Zhaohui (Professor at the Institute for Advanced Confucian Studies, Shandong University, China) for sharing his bibliography on relevant materials in April 2022. I thank Ann Blair for sharing her syllabus, whose contents are currently (and gradually) being integrated into the page. I thank Beth McKillop for sharing her bibliographies and research materials in December 2023: Beth McKillop's materials are yet to be integrated into this page.
